Infusing the Internet into Your Curriculum
Course Description
The greatest use of the Internet is the ultimate teacher resource center. The greatest
inhibitor of this process today is the inability of teachers to locate supplemental materials
online quickly and efficiently. In this course, participants are introduced to "digital
literacy," how to locate curriculum materials online, and learn how to integrate Web-based
resources and learning opportunities into classroom instruction. Core questions addressed in
the course include:
- What is digital literacy, and do you think that it is
important for a teacher in the 21st century?
- How can you use content area Web sites to supplement your
classroom curriculum?
- What are the most effective uses of Internet research sources
and communication tools?
- What barriers exist in your teaching situation in relationship
to incorporating the Internet and World Wide Web (www) into your instruction?
- How does equity and access create ethical dilemmas for
educators?
- How does the Internet remove educational barriers?
Course Features and Materials
This course features graduate-level texts, participant forums to promote in-depth discussion,
and an application-based approach to assignments to ensure transfer of learning.
