Best Practices in Active Learning

Course Description
In this course, participants develop knowledge of instructional concepts and interactive strategies that engage students. Lesson design and teaching techniques are examined and applied to increase student achievement and to meet the academic and affective needs of students. Multiple intelligences, cooperative learning, and other strategies are integrated into this course. Core questions addressed in the course include:
  • How does a teacher who is grounded in traditional teaching methods move towards a more interactive classroom?
  • How can teachers get students to work efficiently and skillfully as members of the whole team?
  • How can teachers incorporate different learning strategies that engage a different set of intelligences?
  • How do teachers design authentic learning?
Course Features and Materials
